Building a Bridge: Take a Peek Inside the World of IT Controls and Operational Impact
Topic description: Robust IT controls are imperative to building and supporting a mature, comprehensive control environment. In this session, we will explore foundational IT controls, associated risks and how IT controls coalesce with financial processes to help ensure stability, integrity and accountability. In addition, we will discuss the connection to and impact of IT controls as they relate to operations in the construction industry.

Featured Speakers
Brittany George, CISA, CISM, QSA, has two decades of experience, including former Big Four experience with a focus on public company audits. Her current focus includes cybersecurity, system and organization controls (SOC) reporting, evaluation and testing of IT general controls (ITGCs) and regulatory compliance (including Payment Card Industry and Sarbanes-Oxley). She is also deeply experienced with system integration and user acceptance testing. Having spent the beginning of her career with TXU/Capgemini Energy, she has a deep understanding of utilities and the energy industry. Her industry experience includes manufacturing and distribution, government, technology, financial services, oil and gas, health care and banking.
Brittany is a member of the IIA, AFCOM and Tech Titans, for which she serves on the Cybersecurity Forum. She is also a member and past president of the North Texas chapter of ISACA. Highly respected in her field, she has been a guest lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Oklahoma and often presents on security and other IT advisory topics, including having presented at the PCI North American Community Meeting, InfoSec World Conference & Expo, at various ISACA chapters as well as TXCPA meetings.
A Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and a PCI Qualified Security Assessor (QSA), she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in management information systems from the University of Oklahoma and a professional graduate certificate in cybersecurity from Harvard.
Dan Graves, CPA, has more than 17 years of experience in public accounting, including 15 years of internal control process, risk management, and compliance experience. He areas of emphasis include construction audit, internal audit, internal control consulting, fraud prevention, business management and process improvement for public sector, private sector, and publicly held companies. He has performed construction process management audits, and construction contract audits for multiple state agencies, school districts, colleges, universities, and other governmental entities.
Dan is a certified public accountant, and he holds memberships with the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TXCPA), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the Institute of Internal AuditorsHe earned a bachelor of business administration from Hardin-Simmons University.
